Lake Sambell Caravan Park

The Victorian town of Beechworth offers the perfect recipe for a successful weekend getaway, and the picturesque Lake Sambell Caravan Park acts as an ideal base for exploring this historic region.

Lake Sambell Caravan Park is ideally located just a short walk from the centre of town, and boasts the title of being the only caravan park in central Beechworth. The park sits on the banks of the picturesque Lake Sambell, which offers ample opportunities for fishing and swimming.

Sue and Roger Humphris have owned the park since June 2006, though the park has been operating since the 1960s. In this time, the park has been perfected, and it now offers an extensive range of amenities to suit all types of travellers on all types of budgets.

Lake Sambell Caravan Park offers more than 100 powered and unpowered sites. The generously-sized level sites feature concrete slabs for caravans and motorhomes or grass for tents and camper trailers, with TV cables and water taps in place. The numerous unpowered sites are spread out along the banks of Spring Creek under a canopy of pines. All sites are campfire friendly, with moveable fire bins and firewood provided for use in the designated areas.

There are also three on-site caravans available, and 16 self-contained ensuite cabins and villas.

Kids are well catered for with a playground, a free mini golf course, and badminton and volleyball courts all on hand to keep them entertained. And if you’re visiting during school holidays, your kids will also be treated to trailer rides, treasure hunts, craft activities and outdoor movies. Too easy.

Additionally, Lake Sambell Caravan Park features a very clean amenities block, laundry, clothes dryer and baby bath, undercover barbecue areas and a well-stocked kiosk. The camp kitchen features two electric barbecue hotplates, a large stove cooktop, a refrigerator, microwave, and a toaster and kettle, with seating available for up to 30 people. Wi-fi access is also available throughout the park at a small fee.

Lake Sambell Caravan Park is a great choice for those wanting to experience the best of the Beechworth town centre while also relaxing in a bush environment. Come both summer and winter, Beechworth has something to offer tourists and travellers, and this lakeside caravan park is the ideal spot to unwind and explore this beautiful alpine pocket of Victoria.
