Cape Arid National Park is a large and exceptionally scenic park best known for its stunningly beautiful beaches, clear blue seas and rocky headlands. It is a wildly beautiful place.
The Thomas River area is accessible by conventional two-wheel drive vehicle and has good unsealed roads. There are panoramic views of the long, sweeping beach of Yokinup Bay, excellent camping facilities nestled in banksia woodland and several walks.
Campsites are level and spacious, although not bookable, and operate on a first come first served basis. Rates are: adult $10, concession $6.60 and child (6-15yrs) $2.20 per night.
A park entry fee of $12 ($6 concession) per vehicle applies at many of the popular national parks in WA including Cape Arid National Park. Many visitors appreciate the savings and convenience of purchasing either a four week Holiday Pass or Annual All Parks Pass online at Shop.dpaw.wa.gov.au/ before their trip.

Special Events

One of the best ways to experience the park’s 1100 species of plants and more than 160 bird species as well as magnificent coastal scenery is on a walk near the coast on the Tagon Coastal Trail or the Len Otte Nature Trail.
Fishing is popular from the beaches and you can also watch for migrating whales from the lookout at Dolphin Cove on the Tagon Coastal Trail as they pass close by in late winter and spring.
