Thankyou to all the people who posted their upfront and honest reviews about this dump. I was somewhat convinced by James over the phone that this was a much better place than the dreaded Aspley Acres Caravan Park which I have been a long term resident. Fortunately my mother raised no fools. However it also seems the worst of Aspley Acres and to most extents other crime and drug infested trailer parks around SE Qld probably end up in James little paradise instead... Under the radar from police presence. Sorry James I didnt come down the last rain shower... Some people actually take their time to do a little research before they get unknowingly conned into something they regret later on.

THIS PARK IS TRASH!. NEVER VISIT THIS PARK, UNLESS YOU WANT TO LOSE EVERYTHING AND HAVE YOUR FAMILY DESTROYED. ME AND MY FAMILY DECIDED TO MOVE INTO THIS PARK UNKNOWINGLY OF THE PERILS AND DISASTERS AHEAD. UPON THE ENTRY TO OUR NEW VAN MY FAMILY MEMBERS (CHILD BOY) FOUND A EXPLICIT GLASS SMOKING PIPE. FIRST OF ALL THE PARK OWNER JAMES LAPHAM AND HIS SIDE KICK LEA ARE 2 FACED BACK STABBING SO AND SOS THAT WILL TELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET WHAT THEY WANT WHETHER IT BE MONEY OR ITEMS, IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET WHAT THEY WANT THEY WILL SET THERE MOB OF PERMANENT FERAL RESIDENTS TO TAKE WHAT THEY WANT WITH FORCE. THE RESIDENTS OF THIS PARK ARE A BUNCH OF NEANDERTHAL CAVEMEN, MY FAMILY HAD A VERY COSTLY PERSONAL POSSESSION STOLEN THAT COULD ONLY BE STOLEN WITH THE PAYED OFF BLINDNESS OF THE SURROUNDING FERAL RESIDENTS. BEFORE THIS INCIDENT VARIOUS MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY WERE SERIOUSLY ASSAULTED INCLUDING (1 ADULT MALE, 1 TEENAGE GIRL, 1 CHILD BOY) WHEN MY FAMILY (1 ADULT FEMALE, 1 CHILD FEMALE) CONFRONTED JAMES AND HIS GANG OF CAVEMEN THEY WERE PUSHED OUT OF THE PARK WITH FORCE. MY FAMILY HAD TO SNEAK INTO THE PARK UNDER THE COVER OF NIGHT TO RETRIEVE OUR EXISTING BELONGINGS. DURING THE TIME OF OUR STAY WE WERE ABLE TO TALK TO 1 FRIENDLY RESIDENT WHO WOULD LATER INFORM US VIA A PHONE CALL A WEEK LATER THAT THE REMAINING BELONGING WE COULD NOT CARRY WERE EITHER DEFECATED ON , URINATED ON, OR STOLEN. THE CARAVAN HAD CLEAR DAMAGE AS WE DROVE BY 2 WEEKS LATER, THIS DAMAGE CONTAINED BREAKING, BURNING, GRAFFITI. THIS PARK NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. IF YOU WERE TO VISIT THIS PARK YOU WILL BE EXPOSED TO DRUG USE, THEFT, VULGAR LANGUAGE, VIOLENCE AND SCAMS. THE PEOPLE OF THIS PARK WILL TRY SELL YOU AIR IF THEY CAN. THEY HAVE A BODGE PAWN SHOP SETUP THAT IN THE END THEY WILL TAKE YOUR BELONGINGS REGARDLESS OF PAYING THEM BACK. THERE ITEMS IN THE OFFICE SHOP HAVE BEEN BROUGHT FROM OTHER BRAND NAME SHOPS AND SOLD FOR 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT. THERE MEAT IS OLD, ROTTEN AND OVER PRICED. ALL WATER IS CONNECTED TO A BOOR WATER SYSTEM YOU ARE FORCED TO FILL EMPTY CONTAINERS FOR YOUR WATER SUPPLY. A FAMILY MEMBER HAS DEVELOPED VARIOUS BOILS AND INFECTIONS FROM THERE HEALTH HAZARDS AND UNCLEANNESS. IF YOU EVER WANT TO MOVE OUT OF THIS PARK BE PREPARED TO BE PUT ON TICKER FOR NO GOOD REASON AT ALL. MY FAMILY HAS BEEN BROKEN APART BY THIS PARK, DO NOT VISIT THIS PARK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, LISTEN TO THE NEWS AND YOU WILL HEAR BAD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE INCLUDING MISSING PERSONS.

August 2014 Firstly nothing like the description on the web site A filthy dust bowl with rubbish everywhere populated by ferals As we drove in feral children glared at us We set up and my wife said surely this isnt the place on the web so we did a GPS check and sure enough it was On arrival we were issued with our toilet paper rations as the feral kids try and block the toilets up The toothless man approached us to get our empty cans and ask if we wanted to buy any firewood which we found out later is free anyway Most here couldnt even spell job let alone have one and one lady informed us the Police are there a couple of times a week A youth immediately was casing us no doubt to look for a thieving opportunity This place has it all Feral kids with mullets or rat tails Name your aggressive dog they have them We were even approached by one guy who introduced himself as the local Dealer which we are pretty sure is not the local Holden Dealer and informed us that the guy in the derelict bus beside us had been evicted for selling drugs Not weed as there are children here The amenities are a health hazard with luke warm water only in mens showers and camp kitchen has a sign asking to clean up Its filthy and what we saw populated by feral kids with aerosol paint cans The pool looks like a sewerage pond and everywhere are half finished projects We never both left our van in case of possible theft Maybe years ago it was nice but now rated half a star and that star is fading

Shock Horror

This campsite is dreadful. The permanent residents homes look like a shanty town, the language is shocking, the (coin operated) BBQ doesn't look like it has been used in forever, dirty, run-down, blocked toilets, broken or missing toilet seats, leaking sewage, an empty swimming pool.... etc etc. The actual grounds are beautiful and it is such a pity that the campsite is slap bang in the middle of the permanent residents. And I think it is VERY expensive when Lake Dyer is half an hour down the road and costs $22 for two nights for two people off peak in an electric site. If anyone is thinking about staying here... DON'T!!!!!

We have coming here for a few years now and we had to leave early the permanents are just feral with one little boy trying to break in to one caravan and trying to steal from a esky, the toilets were gross, showers are full of mold with a lack of water from the showers. James kept saying he wants to do work here but never have I seen any improvements with the money we paid over Xmas he could build a new shower block! James and Sam go take a shower in the amenities block. We left two days early!!!!!!! It's a shame it's a great location.

We stayed over the Xmas break, we were so disappointed ,the toilets and showers were broken and dirty ,it's a real let down,Sam and James how can you be proud of your camping grounds it's a disgrace .the permanents are just feral with a lot of swearing at each other, plus one little boy running around trying to get into caravans and eskies,we won't be coming back,it's sad because we love the location

What a filthy sess pit of ferals living at this camping ground! The amenities block is a health hazard (if your shower even worked), the swimming pool is filled with dirty dam water, the camp kitchen hasn't seen a scrub for a long time, the 'cafe' is surely not passed by Health Inspectors with open gaps in the building etc. The permanent tenants of this park have ruined a potentially beautiful site and you're charged top dollar for Bogan Ville conditions! No thanks

We have just spent the weekend at the park and had a fantastic time. The powered site was right at the front of the dam and the views were beautiful. All the staff went out of their way to help with whatever our needs were and the onsite shop was fantastic as it stocked basically everything you need if you came without it, items were very reasonably priced too. We had wood delivered to our site and the staff member Chris lit if for us, whilst we pored our drinks. The pool was beautiful and clean. After a great weekend it was topped off when we left to go home as we were handed a loyalty card which entitles us to different rewards after so many stays at the park. Great park, great location, great views and friendly staff. Thanks for making our first stay at the park one to remember. See you again at the end of June. :)

The location has so much potential and all in all we had a good stay and the kids had a great time. We generally don't stay at "caravan parks", preferring national parks and more out of the way isolated locations. The staff were friendly and helpful. The lake nice and great for a cool off in the hot weather we had, though very busy with ski traffic. Our location right in front of the water (an access road between) was lovely, even though getting in and out was a nightmare due to poorly designed access. The big downside is the facilities, which were the worst we have ever seen. The main shower amenities was in need of some TLC and was of average cleanliness. Elsewise down our end of the park were porta loos which were filthy and not working properly, which probably accounted for the gross greeting I had the one time I dared to enter. I am not sure if there is a legitimate reason why you couldn't see a foot below the water in the pool, but I wasn't willing to let my kids swim in it, and the dam seemed a much safer option for a cool off. Like I say the staff were lovely, and we had a great time at a nice location, but won't be rushing back. Part of the reason we still had a good time is that we had our own porta loo and shower so didn't NEED to use the amenities though I hate having to empty the porta loo when I have paid a premium for an unpowered site. We thought it was a shame more than anything.

The potential is there... beyond that this is nothing more than a rundown caravan park in dire need of attention that's only draw card is a lake that allows powered boats on it. The noise restriction of 10pm is not enforced with parties (inclusive of fireworks) allowed until well past 1am. The camp kitchen was useless with a non functioning BBQ and broken pool table and fussball table. The pool had a green glow not unlike Pripyat in the aftermath of the nuclear reactor meltdown. The mould in the ladies and childrens amenities block irradiated a similar green glow and the main amenities block lacked doors, lights and toilet paper but made up for that with an excess of dirt, grime and mould. In the short time we were there police visited a permanent resident and some sites were very untidy and may have even featured on an episode of hoarders. The permanent residents children wandered alone at all hours. We left early and will be buying a vat of lamisil for the family.

The new owner Lea has started to renovating the caravan park. The staff were more than helpful and went out of there way to help. We had four adults and four children, all wanted to return as this was a great place to stay. It will be great when the toilet's and shower are renovated, as this was the only thing we could fault. I would recommend this place to all.

We stayed at Atkinson Dam last weekend. 2 adults, 4 teenagers and a mini foxy in a powered campsite. The site was much larger than we expected. We had 3 smaller tents and a large tent, with plenty of room for more. The open camp fire was a highlight for all of us. We were happy to purchase firewood from the staff for $25 it lasted 3 days and nights burning continuously. Great deal. The location is fantastic, perched right on the dam edge. Staff and locals were friendly and didn't venture into our side of the camp at all. Staff were more than helpful, the store was well stocked for anything we had missed. The toilets while old and a little run down were cleaned everyday, the showers worked and were hot. Taking our own toilet paper was not an issue. The pool was clean and kids made good use of it during the hottest parts of the day. We have already made plans to go back again. Thanks for a awesome stay, we loved our site and can't wait to come back.

Sam and James are very helpful. as are the staff. you will find there are new cleaners at the amenities block. they do a great job at keeping the place clean. I did not see any mold in the shower blocks. the pool is cleaned every day. there have been some bad reviews and there have been some very good reviews. there have been some feral tenants living at the park. unfortunately they have rights too. James and Sam can not just throw them out. there is a process that has to be followed. eventually the feral s are thrown out and better people arrive and live there at a great location.

Dirty, over priced, owners on holidays constantly and staff do not care. Drugs were cooking in vans. This place needs the police to look rather carefully at the pirated goods for sale in the shop and the Health dept needs to look at the lack of cleanliness in the food preparation. Appalled at the lack of business sense by the owners. You flap your gums but only garbage comes out.
